E Pound: Alba

Alba

As cool as the pale wet leaves
of lily-of-the-valley
She lay beside me in the dawn.

What does the poem alba by ezra pound mean?

Well, the one thing to remember is that poems are meant to be interpreted by the readers in different ways. There is no wrong way to look at poetry.
It may be describing a woman, a girlfriend maybe.
Alba is italian for dawn; so the poem is meant to describe an early morning event.
The object/person he is describing could very well be a bird, an animal. Maybe it's his child. These are just suggestions.
But poems are meant to be interpreted in different ways.

Alba has many meanings. It could also be a persons name. It is a type of song in Potuguese. Alba is the name of a Spanish General in the 1500s.

Alba is a true representation of imagism .
it deals with objects as imagism is the poetry of objects .It also reflects
Pound's influence by the images of nature .by
the lily , cool , Pound means that nature becomes cool in emotions as the
life in the metropolis

This poem is very beautiful and represents a persons happiness to see their
love beside them in the morning...

There are many interpretations of this poem. It could be about a man who is happy to him his woman sitting next to him
